Shooting Spree Leaves Woman and Child Dead in Allentown, Pennsylvania

Allentown, Pennsylvania – Two people, a woman and a child, tragically lost their lives in a series of three separate shootings that occurred in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The incidents left six others injured, according to local police.

The first shooting incident took place on Friday evening around 8:42 p.m. in the 100 block of Chestnut Street. Responding officers found a 1-year-old baby boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a 66-year-old man with life-threatening gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the woman and child did not survive their injuries, with their deaths ruled as homicides by the Lehigh County Coroner.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to recover from his injuries, as reported by the authorities. Shortly after this incident, another shooting occurred at around 9 p.m. in the 300 block of Ridge Avenue. A man and a woman were found with serious gunshot wounds and were transported to the hospital. Both victims are expected to survive.

The suspect responsible for the second shooting, 23-year-old Demitrius Bashir Campbell of Allentown, was apprehended at the scene and now faces charges for the crime. Additionally, a third shooting incident took place at 2:25 a.m. on Saturday at a bar in the 1600 block of Hanover Avenue. A man was found with gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital for treatment, with two other men arriving at a local hospital shortly after with gunshot wounds as well.

Fortunately, all victims from the third incident are expected to recover from their injuries. Allentown Police have stated that these three shooting incidents are believed to be unrelated.

State Rep. Joshua Siegel expressed his condolences and outrage over the senseless violence that occurred in the city. He stood in solidarity with the community and the Allentown Police Department, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice swiftly. The representative emphasized the importance of ensuring safety and security in the city, condemning such acts of violence that threaten the well-being of residents.
