Earlville Man Charged in Violent Home Invasion and Attack

SYCAMORE, Illinois – A man from Earlville, Illinois faces charges in connection with a violent attack and home invasion where he allegedly abused a woman, threatened her life, and broke into her residence in Shabbona, according to court documents.

Steven S. Frangoules, 32, of Earlville, has been charged with multiple counts including aggravated domestic battery, unlawful restraint, and home invasion following the April 15 incident. The most serious charge, home invasion, could result in a lengthy prison sentence of up to 30 years if Frangoules is convicted.

During an initial hearing in front of Circuit Court Judge Joseph Pedersen, Frangoules was ordered to be held at DeKalb County Jail without the possibility of release until his trial. Prosecutors argued that Frangoules’ violent history and the severity of the charges made him a high risk to harm others.

The incident unfolded after Frangoules and the woman left a bar in Sandwich and headed towards Shabbona. Court records indicate that Frangoules attacked the woman multiple times during the drive and upon reaching the destination. The woman sustained visible injuries to her face, mouth, neck, arms, and ankle, prompting medical attention.

The woman reported to authorities that Frangoules became enraged while she was spending time with his friends, leading to a series of violent confrontations during the drive. Despite her attempts to escape, Frangoules allegedly chased and assaulted her repeatedly, even threatening her life.

Frangoules went as far as breaking into the woman’s home in Shabbona, violently restraining her and causing further harm. The woman managed to escape and seek help from a neighbor before calling 911. In the aftermath, Frangoules allegedly damaged her property and continued to threaten her life.

As the legal proceedings continue, Frangoules is scheduled to appear for arraignment on May 9, facing a judge who expressed concern over the potential for future violent behavior. The case highlights the importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring the safety of victims in such situations.
