Explosion Charges Laid After Fatal Clinton Township Fire and Blast

Mount Clemens, Michigan – A 31-year-old man from Commerce faces charges related to a deadly explosion in a building in Clinton Township last month. The incident, which resulted in a loss of life, was attributed to the explosion of thousands of cans of Nitrous oxide and butane stored in the building.

The building, owned and operated by Noor Noel Kestou, experienced the explosion in March, leading to the tragic death of a 19-year-old man who was struck in the head by a Nitrous oxide canister. Due to the seriousness of the incident, the field investigation into the explosion was delayed until recently.

Following the investigation, Macomb County Prosecutor has charged Kestou with Involuntary Manslaughter, a felony that carries a 15-year sentence. During his arraignment in District Court, a bond of $500,000 cash/surety only was set for the accused individual.

Expressing sympathy for the victim’s family, Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido emphasized the commitment to pursuing justice and holding the responsible party accountable for their actions. Lucido and other officials are scheduled to address the charges at a press conference scheduled for the following morning.

The authorities are deeply concerned over the tragic loss of life and the circumstances surrounding the explosion. The legal proceedings are set to unfold, shedding light on the events leading up to the deadly incident and the responsibilities of those involved.

As the community mourns the loss and seeks answers, the legal process will ensure that justice is served and accountability is established for the consequences of the explosion. The upcoming press conference will provide further insights into the charges and the next steps in the legal proceedings.
