Man Indicted for Leading Fatal High-Speed Chase That Killed Trooper

Gwinnett County, Georgia – A man has been indicted by a grand jury in connection with a high-speed chase that tragically led to the death of Georgia State Trooper Jimmy Cenescar. The incident occurred on January 28th, when Cenescar, aged 28, was fatally injured while working for the Georgia State Patrol. Doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead following the events of the chase.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Cenescar was attempting to stop a motorcyclist fleeing on Interstate 85 when his patrol car collided with an embankment near SR 317 in Suwanee. The man accused of leading the trooper on this deadly chase, identified as Gerson Danilo Ayala-Rodriguez, faces a range of charges including felony murder, first-degree vehicular homicide, and tampering with evidence. Additionally, Ayala-Rodriguez faces multiple counts of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, as well as misdemeanor charges for reckless driving and speeding.

The District Attorney’s office in Gwinnett County announced the indictment against Ayala-Rodriguez, emphasizing the tragic consequences of his alleged reckless behavior that resulted in the loss of Trooper Cenescar’s life.
