Tragic Triple Death Investigation Unfolds in Richmond Residence

RICHMOND, KENTUCKY – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the tragic deaths of three individuals at a residence in Richmond. The incident, which unfolded on Elmwood Drive in the early hours of Tuesday, April 23, 2024, has left the community shocked and seeking answers.

Chief Deputy Tony Terry revealed that deputies were called to Elmwood Drive to provide assistance to Madison County EMS just before 4:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Sherry Hammerle and 39-year-old Evonne Hammerle, both residents of Richmond, unresponsive. Tragically, despite efforts to save them, both women were pronounced dead after being transported to Baptist Health Richmond for medical treatment.

In a grim twist, another individual, Ben Masters, was also found lifeless within the same residence on Elmwood Drive. The circumstances surrounding these simultaneous deaths have raised concerns, with Chief Deputy Terry acknowledging the unusual nature of the situation. Assuring the public, he stated that the Sheriff’s Office is diligently pursuing all leads to uncover the truth behind this tragedy.

While the investigation is still ongoing and awaiting the results of a toxicology report, initial findings suggest a possible connection to drug overdoses.
