Attacker Behind Series of Random NYC Assaults on Women Finally in Custody

New York, New York – A man believed to be responsible for a series of random attacks on women in the Big Apple has been apprehended by the police, sources reported on Tuesday. Daquan Armstead, 31, is facing charges of third-degree assault and harassment in connection with eight unprovoked assaults on women this year.

Among the incidents linked to Armstead is an attack on a 27-year-old administrator at New York University on April 17. The victim was punched in the face while walking through Washington Square Park, according to authorities. The NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force is currently investigating the incident.

Armstead is also being charged in seven other attacks that took place earlier this year. The string of assaults began on February 12, when he allegedly punched a 30-year-old woman on Elizabeth Street. Subsequent attacks occurred in various locations, including Delancey Street and Chrystie and Rivington streets.

On April 2, Armstead reportedly punched a 38-year-old woman in the back of the head after she informed him she had no money when he asked for $1. Further incidents on Delancey Street on April 5 involved attacks on a 25-year-old and a 44-year-old woman.

Records indicate Armstead’s criminal history dates back to a 2021 misdemeanor assault case. He is expected to appear in court to face the new charges.

In addition to Armstead’s alleged assaults, police have been investigating other attacks on women in the city. These incidents, including one involving an influencer who was violently assaulted, have sparked concern about safety on New York City streets.

It remains crucial for law enforcement to remain vigilant and take swift action in addressing such cases to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals in the community.
