SAN ANGELO, Texas – In a disturbing incident, a 64-year-old man from San Angelo has been apprehended for robbery after a violent confrontation with a woman ended in the theft of her cellphone. The arrest of Michael Walkner took place on Wednesday in connection to the robbery.
Court documents reveal that on May 1, 2024, law enforcement officers were called to a residence on the 3300 block of Adrian Street. The victim recounted to the authorities that Walkner had forcibly entered the home and confronted her about a work-related matter. The situation escalated swiftly as Walkner physically attacked the woman, pushing her out of her chair and locking her in the bathroom.
Tragically, Walkner broke down the bathroom door and continued his assault on the victim before absconding with her cellphone. Following an investigation, Walkner was located, and the stolen property was recovered from a different address on the 1600 block of Catalina Drive.
After being taken into custody and undergoing a Mirandized interview to confirm his understanding of his rights, Walkner allegedly confessed to the crime. Subsequently, on May 1, 2024, Walkner was incarcerated at the Tom Green County Jail, where he remains held on a bond set at $100,000.
