Wanted Canal Winchester Man Charged with Murder in Lotus Lounge Shooting

Columbus, Ohio – Columbus police has issued an arrest warrant for Kenyatta D. Glass, a man from Canal Winchester, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in September 2023. The shooting resulted in the death of 31-year-old Shawn Grooms, with another individual sustaining injuries. Glass, charged with murder, is considered to be armed and dangerous, as per the Columbus police department.

The incident took place at the Lotus Lounge on Channingway Boulevard on September 3, 2023, where officers responded to reports of a shooting at 1:40 a.m. Grooms was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. The additional victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, managed to drive himself to Mount Carmel East Hospital for treatment.

According to the probable cause affidavit, video footage from inside the lounge captured Glass in close proximity to Grooms during the shooting. It also showed Glass discarding a firearm while fleeing the club after the incident. Homicide detectives collected shell casings from the scene, which matched the gun dropped by Glass. Moreover, DNA evidence linking Glass to the firearm was discovered, further incriminating him in the crime.

Glass remains at large, with authorities urging the public to provide any information that may aid in his apprehension.
