LARCHMONT, LOS ANGELES – A man in Larchmont, Los Angeles, was brutally attacked outside his home, resulting in the severing of his ear. Jesus Balderas Alfaro underwent emergency surgery to reattach his ear and now bears visible scars from the gruesome assault.
Alfaro, 31, recounted the terrifying experience, stating, “It’s very traumatizing. I keep having flashbacks of hearing the hit and sound of my skin ripping. It was a gruesome sound.” The attack occurred on Raleigh Street in the Larchmont neighborhood early Monday morning.
The victim, who had recently fallen prey to theft of his car’s tires, noticed his windshield had been damaged before confronting the suspect, who then launched the violent assault. The perpetrator, believed to be homeless, quickly disappeared after the incident.
Alfaro described the moment of the attack, saying, “I went to go see the damage, and I turned my back this way, and he was walking away from me. And I just feel a punch and my skin rip once he pulled his hand back.” Initially fearing a neck injury, Alfaro soon realized the extent of his injuries, which reached from his cheekbone through his ear to the back of his skull.
Following the attack, Alfaro underwent surgery to save his ear, expressing gratitude that no vital arteries were harmed. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support his recovery efforts. The LAPD is actively investigating the incident to determine if it is linked to other recent stabbing cases in the area.
Alfaro, wishing to alert the public to remain vigilant, voiced concerns about the suspect potentially posing a threat to others. Reflecting on the incident, he emphasized the importance of staying aware of one’s surroundings, noting that possessions can be replaced, but life cannot. The victim’s harrowing experience serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk in seemingly safe neighborhoods.
