Man sentenced for unthinkable crimes against his own daughter in heartbreaking case out of New Hampshire

Concord, New Hampshire – A New Hampshire man has been sentenced to a minimum of 56 years in prison for the murder of his 5-year-old daughter after moving her corpse around for months before disposing of it. Adam Montgomery, 34, who was already serving time on unrelated gun charges, received the additional sentence for his role in the death of Harmony Montgomery. Despite maintaining his innocence during the trial, Montgomery was convicted of second-degree murder, second-degree assault, witness tampering, abuse of a corpse, and falsifying evidence.

While testifying in court, Kayla Montgomery, the estranged wife of Adam Montgomery, revealed the harrowing details surrounding the tragic incident. She recounted how her family, including her two young sons with Montgomery, faced eviction and were living in a car prior to the events leading to Harmony’s death. She described a heartbreaking encounter where Montgomery physically assaulted Harmony after the child had a bathroom accident in the car, ultimately leading to her death. Kayla Montgomery shared disturbing accounts of where Harmony’s body was hidden, including in a duffel bag, a trunk of a car, a cooler, a homeless center ceiling vent, and a walk-in freezer at Montgomery’s workplace.

As the trial unfolded, Montgomery’s defense attorneys attempted to shift the blame onto Kayla Montgomery, suggesting that she continued to lie to protect herself. They argued that their client did not kill Harmony and pointed to Kayla Montgomery as the last person to see the child alive. Despite facing intimidation and abuse from her husband, Kayla Montgomery eventually came forward and cooperated with prosecutors, leading to her recent parole and pending release from prison after serving an 18-month sentence for perjury charges related to the investigation into Harmony’s disappearance.

The case of Harmony Montgomery has shed light on systemic failures in child protection systems and highlighted the need to prioritize the well-being of children in custody matters. The search for Harmony’s remains continues, as authorities believe they may be located along a route Adam Montgomery drove into Massachusetts in March 2020. The heartbreaking story of Harmony Montgomery serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting vulnerable children and ensuring their safety in the face of adversity.
