London, England – A man in Wembley, London, has been sentenced to 16 years in jail for a brutal attack on a woman that left her with multiple stab wounds. Itesh Ira, 35, of Belmont Avenue, Wembley, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and possession of a knife in court. The Old Bailey heard that Ira carried out the vicious attack in the middle of a street, causing the victim to sustain injuries to her face, neck, and body.
Emergency services responded to the scene on September 30, 2022, where they found the victim lying unconscious on the pavement. The force of the attack was so severe that the knife used by Ira had snapped in half. CCTV footage revealed that Ira had even stomped on the victim’s head while she lay defenseless on the ground, but a brave member of the public intervened to prevent further harm.
After voluntarily surrendering at Wembley Police Station, Ira was taken into custody. The victim, who was acquainted with Ira, was rushed to the hospital and underwent extensive treatment for her injuries that included lacerations to her face, neck, and body, as well as fractures to her hand. Detective Sergeant Mitesh Mulji emphasized the heinous nature of the crime, stating that Ira had armed himself with a knife and waited for the victim to finish work before carrying out the senseless act of violence.
