Fire Destroys Garage, Vehicle, and Boat on North Side of Terre Haute

Terre Haute, Indiana – A detached garage on the north side of Terre Haute was engulfed in flames on Friday, resulting in the destruction of a vehicle and a boat. The incident, which occurred on N. James Street just before 2 p.m., prompted the response of multiple fire departments to the scene.

Otter Creek Fire Chief Bryan Mount confirmed that the garage, along with the vehicle and speed boat inside, was a total loss. Fortunately, the quick actions of a resident who heard an explosion sound and spotted the fire prevented any injuries from occurring. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

In addition to the Otter Creek Fire Department, responders from Lyford, Terre Haute, Seelyville, and Lost Creek fire departments were also on-site to assist with the situation. The collaborative effort of these teams helped contain the fire and prevent further damage to neighboring properties.
