Abusive Relationship Ends in Tragedy for Young Arizona Woman in Murder-Suicide

Phoenix, Arizona – The tragic case of a murder-suicide in Gilbert has shed light on the life and struggles of 28-year-old Brooke Lundy, who moved to Arizona from Nebraska for a fresh start. Lundy’s family recently discovered disturbing details about her relationship with her boyfriend, including reports of controlling and abusive behavior.

According to Lundy’s family, her boyfriend had set up cameras around their home to monitor her constantly. Just two weeks before the incident, he had threatened to harm Lundy and her entire family if she tried to leave. Despite the challenges she faced, Lundy’s uncle, Joey Christensen, described their relationship as very close.

The devastating discovery came when officers found Lundy and her boyfriend, 40-year-old Matthew Blevins, deceased in their home near Val Vista Drive and Ray Road. Investigations suggest that Lundy was shot multiple times before Blevins turned the gun on himself.

Rosenburg revealed that Lundy’s upbringing in Nebraska was marked by tragedy, as her father died by suicide when she was 12, leaving her and her brother in the care of their grandparents and Christensen. Lundy faced further loss when both of her grandparents passed away by the time she was 14.

Despite the challenges she encountered in her past, Lundy found solace in her job as a gas station manager, where she met Blevins. Initially, their relationship seemed positive, but Lundy’s family was unaware of the abusive nature of their relationship until she disclosed it two weeks before her tragic death.

In a heartbreaking revelation, Rosenburg shared that Lundy had been physically abused by her boyfriend, resulting in a broken nose and arm. Feeling trapped, Lundy attempted to escape the dangerous situation she was in, as her family worked on a plan to ensure her safety.

In memory of Lundy, her family has set up a GoFundMe page to cover funeral expenses. They aim to raise awareness about domestic violence and urge those in similar situations to seek help. Resources such as the Domestic Violence Hotline 24/7 (1-800-799-7233) or texting “START” to 88788 are available for those in need of assistance.

The tragic loss of Brooke Lundy serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of recognizing and addressing domestic violence. Her family’s efforts to raise awareness and support others facing similar challenges highlight the need for increased resources and assistance for those in vulnerable situations.
