Vlaardingen, Netherlands – In a string of unsettling events that have left the community on edge, there was yet another explosion at the home of local plumber Ron van Uffelen on Gretha Hofstralaan. The incident, occurring around 1:30 a.m., fortunately resulted in no injuries and minimal physical damage, according to local reports.
Authorities swiftly responded to the scene, cordoning off the area and launching an investigation into the situation. Witnesses reported seeing two suspects fleeing the scene, but as of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the explosion.
This latest explosion comes just days after Vlaardingen Mayor Bert Wijbenga made the difficult decision to extend the closure of Van Uffelen’s residence for an additional three months. Concerns over ongoing threats to the plumber, his family, and neighboring residents prompted this precautionary measure.
The repeated attacks on Van Uffelen have prompted heightened police surveillance around his home. The municipality has also taken steps to protect nearby properties by placing sandbags on the premises.
In an interview earlier this year, following a previous attack in which his sister-in-law and nephews were hospitalized due to a firebomb, Van Uffelen expressed his bewilderment at being targeted. Mayor Wijbenga also imposed restrictions on Van Uffelen, further complicating the situation for the plumber, who now finds himself displaced and incurring significant financial burdens as a result.
The unsettling events involving the repeated targeted attacks on Van Uffelen underscore the urgent need for authorities to address the safety and security concerns of individuals facing such threats. The community remains on edge as investigations continue to unfold in hopes of bringing those responsible to justice.
