Yeadon, Pennsylvania – A man was sentenced to 22 to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to the brutal killing of his father over a dispute regarding money. Robert Coult III, of Yeadon, was charged with third-degree murder, confinement, and possessing a weapon used in the crime. The incident occurred back in September 2018 when the body of Robert Coult Jr. was discovered near a country club on Spring Mill Road in Gladwyne with injuries indicative of blunt force trauma and stabbing.
According to authorities, the younger Coult attacked his father with a hammer during an argument at their home before proceeding to stab him with a knife. After his father’s death, Coult attempted to dismember the body but was unsuccessful. He then transported the body in his car and deposited it near a golf course. Police were alerted to the situation when the elder Coult was reported missing, leading to Coult III’s arrest following an investigation at their residence on Providence Road in Yeadon.
Investigators uncovered blood splatter evidence in the home, along with video footage of Coult III’s activities. Despite his actions, Coult III displayed a lack of remorse and was even observed engaging in leisure activities with others following the incident. He claimed self-defense, alleging that his father had been physically aggressive towards him before the altercation.
Throughout the case, Coult III’s demeanor remained indifferent, even referring to reporters as “vultures” upon his incarceration. His lack of remorse and callous behavior painted a disturbing picture of the events that unfolded, ultimately leading to his conviction and sentencing. The tragic outcome serves as a reminder of the devastating consequences that can result from conflicts escalating to such extreme levels within families.
