Mother Turns in 14-Year-Old Suspect in Fatal Houston Farmers Market Shooting

Houston, Texas – A tragic incident unfolded at the Houston Farmers Market in the Greater Heights area, where a 36-year-old employee, Damon Price, lost his life in an attempt to thwart a theft. The suspect, a 14-year-old, allegedly shot Price multiple times in the parking lot.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects, their hoods drawn, approaching the building where Price worked, responsible for checking delivery trucks. When he confronted the suspects trying to steal a golf cart, a scuffle broke out, leading to the fatal shooting.

One suspect has been taken into custody and charged with capital murder, currently held at the Harris County Detention Center. Sources revealed that the suspect was turned in by his own mother, who brought him to the police station to surrender.

Price’s family expressed grief over the situation, understanding the gravity of the consequences despite the suspect’s young age. The father, Leo Price Sr., emphasized the tragedy of losing a loved one simply doing his job.

The community is urged to provide any information to the HPD Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers. The 14-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court on Monday for the first time, standing trial for the senseless act that took Price’s life.
