Violent Assault Suspect Identified in Downtown Eastside Case, VPD Seizes Vehicle for Further Investigation

Vancouver, British Columbia, authorities have identified a suspect in the violent assault of a sex worker that took place in the Downtown Eastside on Monday. The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) discovered the suspect during an evening patrol at Oppenheimer Park. Due to pending charges, the suspect’s identity has not been disclosed. The assault occurred when the victim was picked up near the intersection of East Hastings Street and Campbell Avenue and subsequently attacked with a weapon. Following the assault, the victim was reportedly pushed out of the vehicle near Oppenheimer Park. Fortunately, two bystanders found the victim and assisted her in reporting the crime to the authorities.
