Violent Partner Jailed for Three and a Half Years After Brutal Attack on Woman

Dungarvan, Ireland – A man from Childers Estate in Dungarvan, Ireland, has been sentenced to three and a half years in prison for a brutal attack on his partner. Adam Konca, 29, appeared in front of Judge Eugene O’Kelly at Waterford Circuit Court for his violent actions towards his partner.

During the trial, a Garda witness testified that on the evening of July 29, 2023, a member of the public discovered a woman covered in blood on Youghal Road in Dungarvan. The GardaĆ were immediately contacted and provided assistance to the severely injured woman, taking her to University Hospital Waterford for treatment.

The victim informed the GardaĆ that Konca had repeatedly punched and kicked her. Upon arriving at Konca’s residence, law enforcement discovered a significant amount of blood in the kitchen, with a trail leading to the bedroom where Konca was sleeping in a drunken state, covered in blood but uninjured.

Despite being ordered to stay away from the victim following his arrest, Konca was involved in another violent incident less than a week later on August 3, 2023, on Youghal Road. The woman reported that Konca had struck her face, strangled her, and verbally abused her during this altercation.

In her emotional victim impact statement, the woman expressed that the abuse she endured has left her permanently scarred and fearful, making her feel like a prisoner in her own home. Konca admitted to his actions, attributing them to being under the influence of alcohol. The court’s decision to sentence Konca to prison reflects the severity of his crimes and the impact they have had on the victim.
