Jasper Man in Custody After Allegedly Strangling Woman and Threatening Her with Firearm, Children Found Safe

Henderson, Ky. – A local Jasper man faces multiple charges, including intimidation and strangulation with a deadly weapon, following an incident in which he allegedly assaulted a woman and threatened her at gunpoint, police reported.

The confrontation took place at an apartment on Giesler Road in Jasper, according to authorities. Responding to an emergency call, officers arrived at the scene to find a visibly injured woman outside the building, who reported being attacked and threatened inside the apartment.

According to police, the woman stated that Delain Taylor, the accused, had strangled her and brandished a firearm during the altercation. She also informed officers that Taylor was still inside the apartment, alongside two young children.

Faced with Taylor’s refusal to leave the apartment voluntarily, law enforcement used a drone to locate him and ensure the safety of the children inside. Following a standoff lasting approximately 30 minutes, Taylor eventually exited the apartment and was taken into custody. The children were found unharmed.

During the subsequent search of the premises, officers discovered a weapon and drug paraphernalia. These findings led to additional charges against Taylor.

Taylor was arrested and transported to the Dubois County Security Center, where he faces several charges. These include intimidation with a deadly weapon, strangulation, neglect of a dependent, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting law enforcement.

This incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence and the presence of firearms in household disputes. Experts emphasize that such situations pose a significant risk not only to the direct victims but also to any children that may be present.

Community advocacy groups and local authorities are urging residents to report signs of domestic violence and are discussing measures to enhance protective services for at-risk individuals. This case serves as a reminder of the critical role law enforcement and community support play in addressing and preventing violence in domestic settings.
