Representative Greg Steube, a Republican from Florida, has introduced four articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden. Steube stated that he believes it’s necessary to move forward with the impeachment of Joe Biden. He accused the President of eroding the honor of his office, casting a shadow over the Presidency, violating the trust invested in him as the leader, and acting in a manner that undermines the rule of law and justice, all at the expense of American citizens.
Steube argued that mounting evidence supports the claim that the Biden family has personally gained from Joe’s governmental positions through tactics involving bribery, threats, and deception. He concluded by emphasizing that Joe Biden should not be allowed to continue his tenure in the White House, as it would be detrimental to the nation.
Steube, a supporter of former President Donald Trump and an influential figure in the Republican Party submitted the articles of impeachment after Representative James Comer, a Republican from Kentucky and the Chair of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, disclosed financial documents that, according to him, bolster allegations that members of the President’s family, including his son Hunter Biden, received substantial payments totaling over $20 million from foreign entities.
In response to such allegations, President Biden has consistently refuted these claims, maintaining that he has not benefited from any overseas dealings involving his son and does not engage in personal business conversations with him.
Article 1 of the articles of impeachment asserts that Hunter and James Biden, the President’s brother, “capitalized on their connection to then-Vice President” Joe Biden during his tenure from 2009 to 2017 and exploited the promise of future access to a Biden Presidential Administration after his term from 2017 to 2021. Allegedly, these actions were undertaken in exchange for monetary compensation and business opportunities from both foreign and domestic business partners.
Article 1 claims that Hunter Biden endeavored to enrich himself and his family by leveraging his father’s position, implying that the elder Biden was willing to support such a scheme.
Article 2 cites testimony from IRS whistleblowers and contends that individuals associated with the Biden campaign engaged in improper collusion with officials from the Justice Department (DOJ) to obstruct investigations into alleged tax-related offenses involving Hunter Biden.
Article 3 accuses James Biden of using promises of access to his brother’s influence to entice “investors” into business ventures founded on dishonest and fraudulent pretenses.
Article 4 alleges that the Biden family employed their financial resources in illegal drug transactions and prostitution.
Steube lodged these impeachment articles on the same day when U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss as a special counsel responsible for investigating Hunter Biden. In recent months, other Republicans, such as Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from Georgia, have also introduced articles of impeachment against President Biden. However, the House postponed any impeachment proceedings against the President in June.
The ongoing criminal inquiry into President Biden’s handling of classified information is progressing. Special Counsel Robert Hur, who served during the Trump administration, is finalizing the terms under which the President will be interviewed. This development often indicates that the investigation is nearing its conclusion.
This news about President Biden’s investigation was somewhat overshadowed by another announcement that the U.S. attorney overseeing Hunter Biden’s case has been designated as a “special counsel” for the investigation. Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a former President Donald Trump nominee, had requested this designation from U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland. Garland agreed to this request, affirming that the circumstances warrant such a decision.
Despite the fact that this request was made months ago, it was only recently granted.
