COSTA MESA, Calif. — In a chilling case that has gripped the quiet community of Costa Mesa, a 49-year-old man is accused of murdering his girlfriend and spending hours with her body in a grim display of indifference. Daniel Allen Aldrich now faces serious legal repercussions, including charges of murder and the use of a deadly weapon, according to officials from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
The horrific sequence of events reportedly unfolded on October 20, 2024, following an evening that began with drinking at the home Aldrich shared with 38-year-old Julie Anne Sanetra. An argument between the couple allegedly escalated, culminating in Sanetra’s fatal strangulation and subsequent injuries inflicted with a folding knife.
Authorities add a macabre detail to the narrative, alleging that Aldrich exhibited a disturbing unconcern by leaving Sanetra’s lifeless body on their couch as he continued to watch television and subsequently slept through the night. The following morning, he purportedly moved her body to a trashcan outside of their Maple Avenue residence.
