Oklahoma Trooper Arrested for Rape During Traffic Stop

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – A state trooper in Oklahoma is facing serious charges following an incident during a traffic stop in January. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, identified as Jarquez Evans, was arrested and charged with rape and forcible sodomy after allegedly coercing a woman into a sexual act to avoid arrest.

The incident reportedly began when Evans pulled over a woman for an expired vehicle tag near Southeast 29th and I Avenue in Oklahoma City. The traffic stop occurred just before 10 p.m. on January 26. According to court documents, both Evans’ body camera and the patrol car’s dashcam were recording as he approached the woman’s car.

The woman informed Evans that she had an illegal drug pipe in her possession. Evans then instructed her to exit the vehicle and conducted a search of her pockets before searching the interior of the car. During the search, Evans allegedly discovered a personal item in her purse and made inappropriate comments to the woman.

Investigators allege that Evans offered the woman a choice between going to jail for the drug paraphernalia or engaging in sexual activity with him. The woman, fearing arrest, reportedly agreed, and they drove to a nearby parking lot where the encounter occurred inside her vehicle.

The woman later recounted the incident to investigators from the Oklahoma City Police Department, expressing concern about potential charges of prostitution. She claimed Evans assured her that she would not face such charges and mentioned that he had deactivated his body camera and microphone during the encounter.

Further investigation revealed that Evans had allegedly boasted about the incident to a friend, claiming that the woman had suggested the sexual act. However, forensic analysis of Evans’ uniform pants conducted by the SBI crime lab found biological evidence matching both Evans’ and the woman’s DNA profiles.

Evans was taken into custody and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail last Friday. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed his arrest but provided no further comment on the case. Evans is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

The charges against Evans are grave, and the case has sparked outrage and concern about the abuse of power by law enforcement officers. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol and other agencies involved in the investigation are expected to conduct a thorough review of the incident to ensure justice is served.
