BRENTWOOD, NY – A retired correction officer from New York City was shot dead by police after he reportedly charged at them with a knife outside his Brentwood home. The incident occurred following a welfare check request for 54-year-old Bruce Boyd at his residence on Wurz Street.
Officers, responding to the call, were greeted by Boyd’s wife, who led them inside. There, they found Boyd armed with a knife and exhibiting two apparent self-inflicted injuries. The officers retreated outside, urging Boyd to drop the weapon as he followed them.
