HOUSTON, TX – Nearly two years have passed since the brutal killing of Austin Conute, yet his family remains without closure. Conute, a devoted father and car salesman, was discovered dead inside his Harris County home in September 2023. Despite a thorough investigation, the case remains unsolved, leaving his loved ones in anguish.
Celine and Harold Miller, Austin’s mother and stepfather, recall the heart-wrenching moment they learned of his death. Austin, known for his generosity and warmth, left behind three children who now face life without his presence. The youngest, Pierce, will grow up without memories of his father.
Surveillance footage captured a mysterious figure in a hoodie approaching Austin’s house on a bicycle, breaking in, and committing the fatal act. The family believes this was a deliberate and malevolent act, and they are determined to see justice served.
Investigators have explored numerous angles, including potential business disputes, but have yet to find any substantial leads. The family is confident that a recent home purchase had no bearing on the murder, though detectives continue to examine all possibilities.
To aid the investigation, Austin’s family initiated a GoFundMe campaign, successfully raising $11,000 to supplement a Crime Stoppers reward. They hope the increased incentive will encourage someone to come forward with information that could lead to an arrest.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with details about the case to reach out. As the family seeks answers, they remain hopeful that the truth will emerge and justice will be served for Austin.
