DALLAS, TX – A tragic shooting incident in West Oak Cliff, Dallas, left a man dead in his apartment early this morning. The victim, believed to be the intended target, was asleep beside his wife when a stray bullet from a nearby apartment fatally struck him. The couple, originally from Venezuela, was residing in a second-floor unit of the complex on Quihi Boulevard.
The shooting took place when gunfire erupted in the early hours, targeting a first-floor apartment. This unit bore the brunt of the attack, with dozens of bullet holes marking the exterior and interior walls. Fortunately, the targeted apartment was unoccupied at the time, preventing further injuries.
Residents of the complex were jolted awake by the sound of gunfire. One neighbor expressed heartbreak upon learning that an innocent person had died, highlighting the safety concerns for families and children living in the area.
The victim’s wife, now staying with friends, is too afraid to return to the apartment complex. The first-floor unit has since been boarded up, and detectives are actively searching for two suspects involved in the shooting. No descriptions of the suspects have been released, and anyone with information is urged to contact Dallas police.
In a separate incident, former Gateway Church leader Robert Morris appeared in court in Osage County, Oklahoma, on child sex abuse charges. Morris faces five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child, stemming from incidents in the 1980s when the victim was just 12 years old.
The courtroom was also attended by the accuser, Cindy Clem Shire, as the legal proceedings against Morris began. The case highlights the ongoing challenge of addressing historical abuse allegations and ensuring justice for victims.
