25-year-old woman’s boyfriend faces murder charges

WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA – The early hours of Sunday morning brought tragedy to a quiet community as a young woman was gunned down, allegedly by her partner. Alyssa Rose Weast, 25, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on a sidewalk near her home, sparking a murder investigation.

Alyssa attempted to escape her home after being shot, but her injuries proved fatal despite the swift response of police and emergency services. Her boyfriend, Michael Duke, aged 26, has been charged with murder after turning himself in to authorities.

In a moving tribute, Alyssa’s family described her as a source of light and joy, whose future was filled with hope and potential. Her death has left a profound impact on all who knew her, highlighting the devastating effects of domestic violence.

Alyssa was a graduate of the University of Delaware and worked as a microbiologist. Her sister, too grief-stricken to speak publicly, shared that Alyssa was a beloved figure who will be deeply mourned.

The investigation revealed that Alyssa was shot inside her residence, with a blood trail leading to where she was found. Authorities suspect that a revolver Alyssa purchased in 2020 could have been the weapon used, although Duke did not have a registered firearm.

Neighbors reported seeing Duke near his vehicle shortly after the shooting. His mother later informed police that he was in shock and planned to surrender, which he subsequently did.

Duke is held without bail, awaiting a court appearance next Tuesday. The incident has left the community grappling with the harsh realities of domestic violence and its far-reaching consequences.
