WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, OH – In a shocking case of animal cruelty, nearly 100 dogs were confiscated from a home in Henry County, resulting in the arrest of the homeowner, Marty Ice. Authorities intervened after receiving a tip from a concerned veterinarian, leading to Ice being charged with multiple counts of animal cruelty.
Upon arrival, authorities were met with a distressing scene. Many of the Dobermans were confined in cages, displaying signs of severe malnourishment, while others roamed the property. Tragically, six puppies were found deceased.
Neighbors had previously reported disturbances from Ice’s property, including persistent barking and dogs frequently escaping. Despite these reports, legal action was often stalled as residents were hesitant to sign complaints due to safety concerns.
Ice’s legal troubles are not new, with a history of complaints dating back decades. However, the lack of formal complaints has previously hindered legal proceedings. This time, with the veterinarian’s tip, authorities were able to take action.
The American Kennel Club, where Ice is listed as a breeder, has suspended his access to services pending further investigation. They have expressed their commitment to cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
The rescued dogs are now being cared for by various shelters, with the Henry County Humane Society coordinating the effort. These organizations are actively seeking donations to support the dogs’ recovery and care.
Ice is scheduled to appear in court this week, where the decision will be made on whether he can reclaim the dogs if he posts a $100,000 bond.
Community members are encouraged to support the shelters by donating through their online platforms, helping to ensure the well-being of the rescued animals.
