Houston Teen, UGA Football Commit, Charged with Felonies

HOUSTON, TX – A promising football career is now overshadowed by legal woes as North Shore High School’s Chase Calicutt faces charges related to a road rage incident. The 17-year-old, who recently committed to the University of Georgia, is accused of aggravated assault following a shooting incident earlier this month.

The legal troubles come on the heels of the death of Calicutt’s teammate, Isaiah Phillip, who was fatally shot at a pool party. Phillip’s involvement in the road rage case adds a layer of complexity to an already tense situation.

The charges against Calicutt involve an altercation where shots were fired at another vehicle containing students from North Shore. Phillip, who was expected to appear in court, was killed before he could face the charges.

The North Shore community is reeling from these events, with many questioning how to prevent further violence. Braxton Coles, whose grandson Jarvon was previously killed in a related incident, is leading efforts to find solutions. He has organized a community meeting to discuss ways to combat the violence affecting local youth.

The University of Georgia, bound by NCAA rules, has not commented on Calicutt’s case. Meanwhile, Calicutt remains in custody with a bond set at $150,000. His family has chosen not to speak publicly about the situation.

As the community gathers to address these challenges, there is a collective hope for healing and a safer future for the students of North Shore.
