MIAMI, FL – A Miami-Dade deputy has been arrested after federal investigators uncovered a disturbing pattern of illegal communication with a minor. Cali Miranda Bloom, 51, faces charges of producing and receiving child sexual abuse material involving a 17-year-old girl.
The Southern District of Florida’s U.S. Attorney’s Office disclosed that Bloom traveled to Atlanta to meet the teen last year. Videos found on the girl’s iPad reportedly depict Bloom engaged in illegal acts, having been uploaded in October 2024.
Investigators identified an Instagram account linked to Bloom, through which explicit exchanges with the minor occurred in June and July. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Bloom was on duty during some of these exchanges.
A witness, sharing the iPad with the teen, provided it to authorities, revealing threatening messages from Bloom when the teen tried to end their relationship. Concerns for the teen’s well-being prompted the witness to alert investigators.
A detailed search of Bloom’s Homestead home led to her arrest, with the Miami-Dade County Sheriff denouncing the allegations as a betrayal of law enforcement principles.
Bloom could face up to 50 years in federal prison if convicted. This case raises significant questions about conduct within police ranks and stresses the necessity of safeguarding minors.
Throughout the investigation, the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has worked closely with federal authorities, reinforcing their dedication to upholding justice and public confidence.
The unfolding case has drawn community attention, with many advocating for stringent measures to prevent similar incidents and preserve law enforcement integrity.
