Prosecutor: Pregnant Teen’s Chilling Text ‘If I Die, It Was Greg’ Preceded Murder

TAUNTON, MA – In a somber courtroom appearance, Gregory Groom, 11, stood accused of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Kylie Montero. Her remains were unearthed on his property, weeks after her disappearance, authorities reported.

Montero’s family attended the hearing, maintaining a quiet presence as the charges unfolded. Groom’s family also refrained from commenting after the proceedings.

Held without bail, Groom is charged with murder. Prosecutors recounted Groom’s admission of a deadly altercation with Montero, which began with a push and escalated to her being fatally stabbed.

When faced with a search warrant, Groom directed investigators to Montero’s burial site, drawn on a map. Her body was found buried five feet beneath the ground.

Evidence included distressing text messages from Montero to her sister, describing a violent clash with Groom and her fears for her life.

In addition to murder, Groom faces charges of aggravated assault on a pregnant individual, domestic violence, and witness intimidation. A probable cause hearing is set for September 10.

The tragic case underscores the critical need for domestic violence awareness and resources, such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
