Heroic Girl Saves 5-Year-Old from Tyngsboro Well

TYNGSBOROUGH, MA – In a dramatic rescue, an 11-year-old girl saved a young boy who had fallen into a well in Tyngsborough. The five-year-old, named Jack, was playing outside when he stepped on an unsecured well cover and fell 20 feet down.

Jack’s mother, Kathleen Freeman, was nearby and heard a loud noise followed by her son’s cries. She quickly discovered him in the neighbor’s well, holding onto a pipe to stay above water.

Juliana Fisher, a neighbor, heard the screams and acted swiftly. She called 911 and found a ladder to facilitate the rescue.

Working with her father, Juliana placed the ladder into the well, allowing Jack to climb out. He emerged with only a few scratches and was taken to the hospital for a check-up.

Kathleen Freeman expressed her gratitude for Juliana’s bravery and quick actions, calling her a hero.

The community has since secured the well with a temporary cover while a permanent solution is being planned.

Jack’s family is relieved and thankful for the assistance from their young neighbor, and authorities are investigating to prevent similar incidents.
