HOUSTON, TX – A fatal shooting in northeast Houston has drawn attention to the perils of domestic violence. The altercation, which occurred early this morning, left an ex-boyfriend dead and involved two children who were present but unharmed.
The incident began when the ex-boyfriend returned to a home on Hoffman Street to retrieve belongings. Fearing violence, the woman involved had asked a friend to be there for support. Unfortunately, her fears were realized when the ex-boyfriend began a violent assault.

Houston police arrived on the scene just before 11 p.m. The medical examiner has completed an initial examination, and authorities have gathered evidence, including video footage capturing the assault.
The children in the house remained asleep through the incident. The woman is recovering from her injuries, while another woman in the home was not harmed.
The man who intervened was apprehended on the city’s west side. Though no charges have been filed yet, police emphasize that the investigation is ongoing and charges could still be considered.
