Mother Dead, Family Hurt in Wrong-Way Accident

FORT WORTH, TX – A devastating car crash in Fort Worth has left a family shattered and a community rallying to support them. A suspected drunk driver, heading the wrong way, collided with the Elliott family’s vehicle, resulting in the death of Brittany Elliott.

The accident unfolded just after midnight on Sunday when a Dodge Ram, mistakenly driving south in the northbound lanes of Boat Club Road, struck the Elliott family’s Ford Expedition. Brittany Elliott was killed instantly, while her husband, Spencer, and their daughter, Ali, were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Spencer Elliott, a beloved teacher and coach at Keller High School, has undergone multiple surgeries, and Ali is recovering from a broken arm. The family is surrounded by loved ones as they navigate this harrowing time.

Hundreds of community members gathered for a vigil at Keller ISD’s football stadium on Monday evening, offering prayers and support for the Elliott family. Spencer’s contributions to the community as a coach and mentor have been widely acknowledged, and the turnout reflected the deep ties he has fostered.

John Nelson, a family friend and colleague, reminisced about Brittany’s role as a steadfast support system for Spencer. The two families had spent the previous night together at a baseball tournament, unaware of the impending tragedy.

The driver of the Dodge Ram is under investigation for intoxication manslaughter. Though he remains unnamed, Fort Worth police confirmed that the investigation is active and ongoing.

Spencer was also slated to assist with coaching softball this season, further illustrating his commitment to the school and its students. The community’s response highlights the profound impact he and his family have had.

With a fundraiser underway to help cover medical expenses and other needs, the Elliott family’s path to recovery is fortified by the community’s unwavering support.

As the investigation progresses, the focus remains on healing and unity within the community.
