PITTSBURGH, PA – In a startling incident early Sunday, a Florida man was discovered asleep in a Pittsburgh home, igniting a tense confrontation. Dominique Peebles, of Haverhill Street, awoke to the unsettling sound of snoring in her daughter’s vacant bedroom.
Upon investigation, Peebles found a stranger, later identified as 23-year-old Miguel Angel Meza from Miami, lying on the floor with his pants down. Acting swiftly, Peebles, fearing for her safety, confronted Meza and managed to expel him from her home.
However, Meza lingered on the porch, prompting Peebles, a licensed gun owner, to fire warning shots into the air. This action finally drove Meza to seek refuge in a neighboring house, where police later found him hiding.
Currently held in Allegheny County Jail, Meza faces charges of criminal trespass and public drunkenness. Peebles, though shaken, remains determined to protect her home and family, expressing her concerns about neighborhood safety.
The incident has prompted discussions among residents about enhancing security measures. Peebles’ decisive actions underscore the unexpected threats that can arise, even in familiar surroundings.
As the investigation continues, Peebles hopes for a swift resolution, while the neighborhood remains vigilant, united by a shared concern for safety.
