GOSHEN TOWNSHIP, OH – In a disturbing event that has jolted a normally tranquil Ohio community, a babysitter faces serious charges after a toddler was critically injured under her watch. The Goshen Township police have charged Amanda L. Greger, 37, with two counts of child endangerment and one count of tampering with evidence, in connection with the incident that sent a 1-year-old girl to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The allegations surfaced after police were alerted by hospital staff to potential child abuse. It was reported that during the night of Nov. 9, while the child’s mother was at work, the young girl suffered injuries severe enough to include a brain bleed and bleeding from her eye. When the mother returned early the next morning, she found her daughter unresponsive, with abrasions on her lip, and Greger asleep alongside her, allegedly in a shirt stained with blood and vomit.
Authorities quickly intervened, and upon executing a search warrant at the home, detectives found bloodstained areas around the premises and the child’s clothes in the washing machine. Despite being washed, the clothes still showed blood marks, indicating a possible attempt to erase evidence of the incident.
The local community has reacted with shock and betrayal, particularly because Greger was described as a long-standing family friend. People close to both the mother and Greger are struggling to come to terms with the severity and nature of the incident, given their prior relationship.
In response to the medical and legal challenges facing the toddler, family members have initiated an online fundraising campaign to cover the escalating medical costs. The fundraising website outlines that the child is in a pediatric intensive care unit, sedated and ventilated, grappling with multiple injuries including lung contusions, a condition which complicates her recovery.
During a recent judicial proceeding, Greger’s bond was set at $500,000. The court also stipulated that, if released, Greger would be barred from contact with any minors, including the victim. Her subsequent court appearance is scheduled for December 1.
