Miami Beach woman bites suspect, flees during sexual attack

Arrest report names a 28-year-old man and cites surveillance video, social media posts, and items seized during his capture.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A 28-year-old man is in custody after police say he kidnapped a woman from the Ocean Drive corridor early Saturday, sexually assaulted her on a rooftop, and lost control of the attack when she bit him and ran, a case built on surveillance video and witness statements from the South Beach strip.

Detectives say the confrontation began minutes after the woman and her fiancé left a nightclub along the 900 block of Ocean Drive. The suspect allegedly punched the fiancé, leaving him unconscious on the sidewalk, then led the woman upstairs while claiming he had a gun and would kill her if she resisted. Police say the woman later fled after biting him and was treated at a hospital. The arrest unfolded a day later, after investigators matched images, reviewed security footage from nearby buildings, and traced the suspect’s movements.

In an arrest report, officers identify the suspect as Alix Junio Louis Innocent and list charges including armed sexual battery and kidnapping. Investigators say rooftop video captured portions of the encounter, including the victim pleading for her life and the suspect ordering her to be quiet. The report says Innocent did not display a gun but threatened to shoot, and the woman complied out of fear until she found a chance to escape. A hotel owner on the block, Mitch Novick of the Sherbrooke Hotel, said his cameras recorded screams followed by the woman running into the street.

Police say the suspect returned to the scene hours later and posted clips to Instagram that appeared to reference the assault, including gestures mimicking a strike and comments about blood on the ground. A department spokesperson, Christopher Bess, said investigators used those posts to help confirm the suspect’s identity and timeline. When officers moved in to arrest Innocent, they said they found about 14 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms and 12 grams of marijuana in his backpack. Records checked by detectives also flagged an active bench warrant from August and probation through May 5, 2026, for grand theft and fleeing and eluding in Broward County.

The attack unfolded near a cluster of hotels and clubs that pull late-night crowds during the holiday week. Police canvassed storefronts and rooftops along the 900 block for additional angles of the punch that left the fiancé concussed and for footage showing the route to the rooftop. The fiancé, initially feared dead by the victim because he was unresponsive, was later hospitalized with a head laceration and stabilized. Officers documented injuries and collected statements while technicians exported digital files from private security systems in the area.

Authorities said formal charges will be finalized after prosecutors review the case file, including interviews, medical records and digital evidence. A first appearance hearing is expected to address bond and release conditions. Police did not release the victim’s name, citing privacy rules. Additional updates are likely once court dockets post charging documents and as any forensic submissions return from the lab in the coming days.

Business owners along Ocean Drive described a steady police presence through the afternoon as detectives retrieved footage and spoke with staff. Novick said he provided recordings that captured the woman’s exit and the suspect leaving a nearby building. By evening, officers had circulated the suspect’s name to local units and moved to make an arrest. The victim remained under care and later gave a detailed account to detectives, according to the report.

As of Wednesday, police said the suspect remained jailed on the new counts while investigators prepared materials for prosecutors. Officials said the next update is expected after the suspect’s initial court appearance and the filing of formal charges.
