Miami Gardens, FL – A tragic incident unfolded in Miami Gardens late Thursday evening when a man was fatally shot on a residential porch, leading to a second-degree murder charge against 32-year-old Sylvester Grice-Jordan, according to police. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Yasmany Rodriguez Fernandez, was found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Law enforcement was summoned to a residence on NW 177th Terrace just after 7 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Officers arriving at the scene encountered Grice-Jordan armed with a rifle outside the home. He complied with police commands to drop the weapon and was detained without further trouble.
Inside the home at the time of the incident were Fernandez’s wife, his stepdaughter, and an infant, all of whom were unharmed. The investigation revealed that Grice-Jordan had been living at the residence with his girlfriend—Fernandez’s stepdaughter—since April. Following domestic disputes, he was asked to leave the previous week, leaving behind his pet.
The next day, when Grice-Jordan returned to retrieve his dog as requested by the family due to complications at the home, tensions flared. The argument between Fernandez and Grice-Jordan, initially verbal and without any visible weapons, escalated dramatically.

Surveillance footage captured the harrowing moments before the shooting: Grice-Jordan is seen demanding keys from Fernandez and questioning him about possessing a gun.
