Police: North Texas twins charged in two November killings

Investigators say one shooting was revenge for a 2021 robbery that forced the brothers to strip at gunpoint on camera.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Twin brothers Solomon and Samuel Gbadebo, both 20, were arrested Jan. 15 in Burleson on murder warrants in two separate 2025 shootings in north Fort Worth, police said. The victims were 19-year-old Devan Randles and 20-year-old Isaiah Angel Gonzales.

Police say the cases, weeks apart and within a few blocks of each other, became linked through surveillance video, a white Nissan Altima, and clothing evidence. Court records outline a possible motive in the second killing: a 2021 robbery in which the twins reported being held at gunpoint and forced to strip while being recorded. Investigators say a video found in the later victim’s belongings showed the teenage brothers during that earlier robbery. The arrests this week move the investigation into the charging phase as detectives continue building the timeline and evidence trail.

According to an affidavit, the first shooting unfolded around 1:30 a.m. Nov. 15 at an apartment complex on Augusta Lane near I-35W. Surveillance cameras captured a white Nissan Altima entering the lot. Shortly after, Randles was seen walking with three others; investigators later said the group appeared to be breaking into vehicles. Gunshots erupted off camera. Randles was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead. The same Altima was filmed leaving. No suspects were arrested at the scene. Two weeks later, shortly after 2 a.m. Nov. 30, cameras at Flips Patio Grill on Western Center Boulevard showed Gonzales leaving the restaurant and getting into a car with his girlfriend when two men ran up and fired through the windshield. Gonzales, an employee at the restaurant, died at a hospital.

Detectives say shoe patterns resembling Nike Air Force 1s were recovered in the restaurant lot. The Altima seen at the apartment complex was tied to the second scene and traced to the brothers’ mother, the affidavit states. In December, investigators obtained a search warrant for the twins’ apartment; no items were seized that day. Police later collected clothing that appeared to match garments seen in video from one or both scenes. A tipster told detectives the restaurant victim had robbed the twins in 2021 and filmed the humiliation. While going through the victim’s belongings, investigators say they found a video of two young men forced at gunpoint to strip. Facial recognition technology was later used to identify the teens as the Gbadebo brothers. Records did not show an arrest in the 2021 robbery.

Public records show both brothers were arrested at 10:15 a.m. Jan. 15 at a home on North Main Street in Burleson and booked on first-degree murder charges under Texas Penal Code 19.02(c). Police previously said Samuel Gbadebo was taken into custody after a Dec. 12 pursuit in the Garden Acres area on unrelated matters, then released when homicide evidence was still being developed. The new warrants tie the brothers to both November homicides. Officials have not publicly detailed ballistics findings, phone records, or other forensic tests. Detectives have also not said whether a weapon has been recovered or who they believe fired the fatal shots in each case.

Both shootings occurred in the same commercial and residential corridor along Western Center Boulevard in far north Fort Worth, a busy cluster of apartments, restaurants, and parking lots just off the interstate. In early December, employees and customers at Flips Patio Grill left flowers near the curb where Gonzales was shot. “We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our employees, Isaiah Gonzales,” the restaurant said in a public statement at the time. Neighbors reported extra patrols after the two killings and said they were startled by the similarities in time and place.

Under Texas law, a first-degree murder charge carries a possible sentence of five to 99 years or life if convicted. Prosecutors will decide whether to present the case to a Tarrant County grand jury after police submit their full file. The department has not released dates for any news briefings. Court dockets for initial appearances were not immediately posted. Detectives are still reviewing video, canvassing the area for additional witnesses, and comparing ammunition and firearm data from the two scenes. Police have not announced any additional arrests or suspects.

On Friday, the brothers remained charged in the two homicides as investigators worked to finalize supplemental reports and lab submissions. The cases are expected to move next to prosecutors for charging review and grand jury scheduling in the coming weeks.
