Orlando Man Lured into Violent Ambush at Apartment Complex, Two Arrested

Orlando, Florida — In a late-night assault at a local apartment complex, two people have been arrested on charges including robbery and aggravated battery after allegedly orchestrating an attack involving an axe and a firearm. The suspects, identified as Nicholas Lavallee, 20, and Anne Aksell, 29, were actively involved in planning the ambush which left one man severely injured, according to police.

The victim, who believed he was meeting just Aksell, whom he had previously communicated with via Instagram, was lured to the complex on Emily Loop late Monday. The social media-based relationship took a sudden violent turn, authorities reported, culminating in the brutal encounter.

Upon his arrival at approximately 11:30 p.m., the man was greeted by Aksell who guided him to the staircase, where Lavallee, armed with a gun, and two other assailants—one wielding an axe and another a knife—emerged. According to law enforcement officials, the group assaulted the man, with one attacker striking him in the head with the axe.

Following the attack, the assailants robbed the victim of his phone, wallet, and car keys. Despite his injuries, which included a stab wound to the back and a significant head bruise, the victim managed to escape and sought help from a nearby resident walking her dog.

Local police were able to respond swiftly, aided by the victim’s statements and surveillance video footage from the apartment complex which corroborated his account. This evidence was critical in refuting initial claims by Aksell that the altercation arose from the victim making unwanted advances.

During the investigation, more details emerged about the premeditation of the attack. Aksell eventually conceded that she and Lavallee had arranged the late-night meeting under false pretenses, intending to physically assault the victim. The attackers’ motive, as described by Lavallee during police questioning, stemmed from what he perceived as disrespectful behavior towards himself and Aksell.

Investigators searching Lavallee’s residence within the same housing complex discovered items linking Aksell to the scene on the night of the attack, strengthening the case against both suspects. Police records also highlight inconsistencies in the portrayal of the relationship between Aksell and Lavallee, who at times declared themselves as partners and other times as spouses.

Both Aksell and Lavallee are currently held at the Orange County Jail without bond, scheduled for a court appearance on January 5. Police are continuing their hunt for the two additional suspects, known only by their nicknames, “Eli” and “J3,” who remain at large.

This attack has raised concerns about the misuse of social media platforms in facilitating violent crimes, prompting discussions about enhancing safety measures for users. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers lurking behind digital interactions, as individuals may not be who they appear to be online.
