Bolivar, MO – Authorities have charged two men with serious offenses following a robbery in Bolivar that led to the death of a 61-year-old man late last month. The suspects, identified as 23-year-old Bryson Francka and 18-year-old Kaidan Lamb, are facing charges of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, and vehicle tampering in connection to the death of Lyman Taylor. Additionally, Lamb has been charged with failing to render aid after allegedly fleeing the scene of the incident.
According to investigators, the incident began when Francka, donning a ski mask and armed with what turned out to be an airsoft gun, approached Taylor at his residence. It is believed that Francka then forced Taylor into a Dodge Caravan parked nearby, initiating a violent sequence of events that ultimately led to Taylor’s demise.
Further details revealed by the police indicate that after Francka coerced Taylor into the van, a family member of Taylor’s witnessed the incident. The family member’s prompt identification of Francka greatly aided law enforcement in speeding up the investigation.
As the events unfolded, Lamb, who was in another vehicle, trailed the van. Lamb recounted to authorities that he observed the van making erratic movements, suggesting a struggle was occurring inside between Taylor and Francka. After losing sight of the van momentarily, Lamb discovered Taylor’s unresponsive body in the roadway.
Lamb confessed to investigators that he accidentally struck Taylor with his vehicle and then left the scene without providing assistance or contacting emergency services. Crime scene analysis later showed scattered debris, damaged mailboxes, and blood trails along the road, painting a grim picture of the scene.
Swift action by law enforcement led to the apprehension of both Francka and Lamb, aided extensively by the testimony of the family member who had initially spotted Francka. Although Lamb initially claimed the collision was accidental, he later changed his account, admitting his involvement in the fatal encounter.
The investigation concluded that the sequence of events leading to Taylor’s tragic death began with Francka’s attempted armed robbery. Both suspects are currently held in Polk County Jail, with Francka’s bond set at $500,000 and Lamb’s at $250,000.
Court documents indicate that the first court appearance for both men is scheduled for Wednesday. The ongoing investigation continues to gather evidence to fully elucidate the circumstances surrounding this fatal confrontation.
This case highlights not only the severity of crime triggered by robberies but also challenges law enforcement in rapidly evolving violent situations. As the community reels from the shock, the authorities remain committed to unveiling further details and ensuring justice is served in this complex case.
