Gunfire Leaves Two Dead on Baldwin Park Residential Street

Authorities are investigating a pre-dawn shooting with no suspect information released.

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. — Two people were killed and a third was critically injured in a shooting reported just after 5 a.m. Friday in a residential area of Baldwin Park, according to authorities.

The shooting prompted a large emergency response and left investigators working to determine what led to the violence. Officials said the victims were found near Millbury Avenue, and no suspect information was immediately available as detectives began canvassing the area for evidence and witnesses.

Police and fire crews responded shortly after receiving reports of gunfire in the 3200 block of Millbury Avenue. When first responders arrived, they located three victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Two were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Officials said officers were already on scene when firefighters arrived, though no law enforcement personnel were involved in the shooting itself.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victims, pending notification of next of kin. Investigators also have not said whether the victims knew each other or if the shooting was targeted. “We are still in the early stages of this investigation,” a department spokesperson said, adding that detectives are working to establish a timeline of events and identify anyone involved.

The neighborhood remained cordoned off for several hours as investigators collected evidence and spoke with residents. Markers were placed along the street as crews documented the scene. Residents in the area described being awakened by the sound of gunfire in the early morning hours, though officials have not confirmed how many shots were fired.

Violent incidents in Baldwin Park have drawn increased attention in recent years, particularly those occurring in residential neighborhoods. Law enforcement agencies across Los Angeles County have continued to emphasize efforts to reduce gun violence while responding to incidents that occur with little warning or clear motive.

Detectives are expected to review surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses and conduct interviews with potential witnesses. Authorities have not said whether they believe the suspect remains in the area or if there is an ongoing threat to the public.

As the investigation continues, officials are urging anyone with information to come forward. No arrests had been announced as of Friday afternoon, and no description of a suspect or vehicle had been released.

The condition of the surviving victim remained critical, according to hospital officials. No further details about that individual were immediately available.

The case remains active as investigators work to determine what led up to the shooting and who may be responsible.
