Husband and Wife Among Three Killed in Baldwin Park Shooting

Authorities said the case was being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.

BALDWIN PARK, Calif. — Three people were killed Friday morning after gunfire broke out in the 3200 block of Millbury Avenue, where sheriff’s homicide detectives joined Baldwin Park police in an investigation near the 10 Freeway.

The shooting was reported shortly before or just after 5 a.m., according to early accounts from authorities. Responders found two people dead at the scene and rushed a third victim to a hospital, where that person later died. Officials said the dead included two men and one woman.

ABC7 reported that authorities identified two victims as an 80-year-old man and his 56-year-old wife. The woman died at the scene, while the man died at a hospital. A third victim, described only as a man between 60 and 70 years old, also died at the scene. Sheriff’s Lt. Steve De Jong said investigators did not have witnesses who saw what happened.

The shooting happened near Millbury and Bresse avenues, with other reports placing the scene near Millbury and Merced avenues. The neighborhood is just off the 10 Freeway in the San Gabriel Valley city. Authorities said Baldwin Park police were already at the scene when firefighters arrived, and no officers were involved in the shooting.

Investigators said there were no outstanding suspects, but they had not publicly released the names of the victims by Friday evening. The relationship among all three victims remained unclear. Detectives were reviewing the scene and gathering statements as the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau assisted the local police department.

A neighbor told ABC7 she heard gunfire before sunrise and later saw police and helicopters around the home. “I just got scared,” she said, adding that she knew people who lived across the street. Another witness told reporters at the scene that he heard multiple shots.

The investigation remained active Friday, with sheriff’s homicide detectives leading follow-up work with Baldwin Park police. Officials had not announced a motive, a weapon recovery or the final cause and manner of death for each victim.
