Authorities said three adults were found shot inside a Civorno Drive home.
TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A welfare check near Pflugerville turned into a triple homicide investigation Thursday after deputies found three adults shot dead and later arrested a family member on a capital murder charge.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office said 27-year-old Joshua Dahan is accused of killing his parents, Armand Dahan and Jami Dahan, and his older brother, Noah Dahan. Deputies were first sent to the home after a relative reported that one of the residents failed to arrive at work. By Thursday evening, Dahan had been booked into jail.
The 911 call came in around 8:29 a.m. Thursday. Deputies responded to the 17900 block of Civorno Drive, a home with a Pflugerville mailing address but outside Pflugerville city limits. Inside, they found a man and woman in their 60s and a man in his 30s dead from gunshot wounds. Officials later identified them as 62-year-old Armand Dahan, 63-year-old Jami Dahan and 31-year-old Noah Dahan.
As deputies worked the scene, investigators identified Joshua Dahan as a person of interest. The U.S. Marshals Service said the sheriff’s office asked for immediate help from the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Officers found a vehicle tied to the person of interest parked and unoccupied near Norwood Park Boulevard in North Austin. They then searched nearby and detained him without incident at about 11:45 a.m.
The arrest involved the U.S. Marshals-led task force, Austin police and the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. The marshals said the person of interest was approached, surrounded and taken into custody without incident. CBS Austin reported that Dahan was booked at 4:57 p.m. Thursday on a capital murder charge.
Authorities have released few details about what happened before the shooting. They have not announced a motive, a weapon recovery or a full timeline inside the home. Officials said the case appeared to be isolated, meaning they had not reported a wider threat to the public. The sheriff’s office said the investigation remained active.
The case adds to a deadly year in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction. CBS Austin reported the killings were the seventh homicide investigation handled by the agency this year. Local reports also said Dahan had prior Travis County cases, including a possession charge prosecutors did not pursue and a weapons charge that was dismissed. Those records do not explain the killings and are not proof of guilt in the current case.
Capital murder cases can move through several early steps, including bond decisions, appointment or hiring of defense counsel, evidence review and possible grand jury action. As of the first public reports, no court schedule had been released. Investigators were expected to continue working with forensic evidence, witness statements and medical examiner findings.
By Friday evening, the public record showed one suspect in jail and three victims identified as members of the same Pflugerville family. The next update is expected from court records, the medical examiner or the Travis County Sheriff’s Office as detectives continue the investigation.
