Veteran Killed During Nap In Atlanta Work Van

Korri Jackson’s family said he was asleep in his vehicle when he was shot.

ATLANTA, Ga. — Korri Jackson, an Army veteran working two jobs, was shot and killed April 20, 2023, while resting in his vehicle along Main Street in northwest Atlanta, according to police and his family.

Jackson’s death left his family pressing for answers in a case that began as a sudden early-morning shooting outside a townhome community. His mother, Kalena Davis, said her son had been moving between a daytime sales job and nighttime work when he stopped to sleep.

Family members said Jackson had parked outside his girlfriend’s home after finishing one job and before starting the next. Davis said the weeks after his death were painful and uncertain. “One day at a time, but for me, it’s been one hour at a time,” she said. “It hurts, it hurts.”

Jackson served in the U.S. Army and the Georgia National Guard. Relatives described him as driven, steady and focused on building a future. Davis said she worried about the danger tied to his night work booting vehicles, but said her son kept working because he had goals.

Police said Jackson was killed on Main Street in northwest Atlanta. The shooting happened during a violent stretch in the area, with investigators also looking at other nearby killings from the same morning. Authorities later said several people were suspected in a crime spree involving stolen vehicles.

Jackson’s family said the shooting appeared senseless. His relatives said he was not looking for trouble and was trying to rest between long shifts. Davis said her son “didn’t deserve that,” and family members asked for justice as police continued the homicide investigation.

The case later moved into the courts as investigators identified suspects and warrants were issued. Police arrested John’kevious Anderson and charged him with murder. Other suspects were later named as authorities continued searching for people they said were tied to Jackson’s death.

As of May 9, 2026, the case remains part of a broader Atlanta homicide investigation tied to multiple suspects. Jackson’s family continues to wait for the full case to move forward.
