Violent Partner Jailed for Assaulting Woman in Domestic Dispute

Mold, Wales – A man from Leeswood in Wales has been sentenced to 25 months in prison for assaulting his partner, causing actual bodily harm and strangling her during an argument over money spent at a shop. Tecwyn Woodward, 55, admitted to the charges at Mold Crown Court on Tuesday.

The violent incident unfolded at their residence, where Woodward’s partner confronted him about his spending habits. This confrontation escalated into physical violence, with Woodward throwing her to the floor and delivering a headbutt to her face, resulting in a black eye and a bleeding lip for the victim. Following the attack, she managed to escape their home and seek help.

Authorities commended the victim for her bravery and cooperation throughout the investigation. PC Sarah Pawley emphasized the zero-tolerance policy towards domestic violence, urging victims to come forward and seek assistance from the police or support agencies. Woodward’s arrest on New Year’s Day last year marked the conclusion of a search for him in connection to the assault.

The North Wales Police’s Operation Unite aims to combat violence against women and girls, emphasizing the importance of holding perpetrators of domestic abuse accountable. The case serves as a stark reminder of the prevalent issue of domestic violence and the need to provide support for victims to break the cycle of abuse.

It is crucial for individuals experiencing domestic violence to know that help is available and that law enforcement agencies are prepared to investigate reports of abuse thoroughly. By speaking out against domestic violence and seeking assistance, victims can start on the path to safety and recovery. The sentence imposed on Woodward underscores the serious consequences of committing acts of domestic violence and serves as a reminder that such behavior will not go unpunished.
