Two children were found unharmed after officers located a vehicle tied to the case.
MARANA, Ariz. — Marana police are investigating a Monday shooting that left a woman dead at a home and a man dead near a restaurant parking lot, with two young children found safe.
Officers were called about 5 p.m. to a home on West Nueva Vista Drive, close to North Silverbell Road and North Cortaro Road. Police said they found a woman dead there, then located a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting less than a mile away.
The vehicle was found in the parking lot of a steakhouse in the 8500 block of North Silverbell Road. A reporter at the scene said two Marana police vehicles boxed in the blue sports car while armed officers moved around the area. Officers removed two young children from the vehicle, and police later said both children were safe.
Other officers moved into the nearby desert, where police said the man was found dead. Investigators have not released the names of the dead, the children’s relationship to them or details about what led to the shooting.
Police said no suspects remain at large. The department has not announced arrests or charges, and the case remained active as investigators worked to connect the home, the vehicle and the desert scene.
The shooting happened during a week marked by several serious gun cases across southern Arizona. Since May 20, authorities in the region have reported fatal shootings, a road-rage case in Tucson and a trooper-involved shooting along Interstate 10 near Benson.
As of Tuesday, Marana police had not released a fuller timeline or the identities of the man and woman. The investigation’s next public update is expected to clarify how the scenes are connected and whether the deaths are being handled as a murder-suicide or another type of shooting.
