Police said the victim and suspect may have known each other.
PEORIA, Ariz. — A man was taken to a hospital early Monday after police said he was shot and stabbed outside a home in Peoria’s Vistancia area, where investigators were still searching for a suspect.
Officers were called around 5:30 a.m. June 1 to a neighborhood near Ridgeline Road and Sunrise Point. Police said the injured man was found outside a home and taken for treatment. His condition was not immediately released by Peoria police.
Investigators said the suspect was not at the scene when officers arrived. Police also said the people involved are believed to have known each other, though officials had not released the victim’s name, the suspect’s name or a possible motive by Monday morning.
Arizona’s Family reported that crews saw first responders performing chest compressions before the man was taken to a hospital. Detectives placed evidence markers in the street as they worked to determine what happened before the shooting and stabbing.
The investigation remained active in the Vistancia area, a north Peoria community near Vistancia Boulevard. Police had not announced an arrest or said whether they recovered a weapon. No other injuries were immediately reported.
Police said the case remains under investigation. The next update is expected after detectives identify the suspect or release more details about the victim’s condition.
