Woman Found Dead Outside Westchase Apartment Complex

Houston police said the case is being investigated as a homicide.

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston police opened a homicide investigation after a woman was found dead Friday night outside the Woodland Park Apartments in the city’s Westchase area.

Officers were called about 8:12 p.m. to the apartment complex on Woodland Park Drive after a report of an assault. Police said a 911 caller told dispatchers a woman was lying on the ground at the complex.

When officers arrived, they found the woman dead. The Houston Fire Department also responded and pronounced her dead at the scene. Lt. Pulido of the Houston Police Department said investigators had not yet identified the woman by Saturday morning.

“We haven’t been able to identify her yet,” Pulido said. “We’re gonna have to wait for the autopsy. There’s no identifying markers or IDs left around.”

Police said the woman was believed to be in her mid-30s. Investigators had not said whether she lived at the apartment complex or was visiting when she died.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Unit investigators spent several hours at the property collecting evidence. Police also searched the area for surveillance video and spoke with possible witnesses who may know what happened before the woman was found.

No suspect information was released. Police also had not released a possible motive or details about how the woman died.

The investigation remained open Saturday as detectives waited for the woman to be identified and for autopsy findings.
