North Carolina Mother Accused Of Strangling, Burning Children

The case centers on allegations involving strangulation, burns and serious injury.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — A Guilford County child abuse case is moving through the court system after records showed a 40-year-old woman was arrested Monday on charges tied to serious injuries.

Sabrina Spruill was named in Guilford County records connected to a June 22 arrest. Local reports said she faces three felony child abuse counts involving serious injury and three assault by strangulation counts. The children involved were described as younger than 9.

Documents cited in the reports said the alleged abuse included strangulation and hot wax being poured on the children. Authorities have not publicly identified the children or released a detailed timeline of when the injuries occurred. The case became public after reports said a neighbor rescued the children.

Guilford County’s public law enforcement system listed the offense as felony child abuse involving serious physical injury. The location connected to the record was in Guilford County. Officials have not said whether more charges could follow or whether other adults are under investigation.

The next steps are expected to include court appearances and further review by prosecutors. Records available Wednesday did not show a public statement from Spruill, and no plea information was immediately available.

The children’s current condition and placement have not been released. The case remained pending Wednesday as local authorities and court officials continued processing the charges.
