San Fernando, California – A woman was violently assaulted and robbed of her purse in broad daylight in San Fernando earlier this week. The incident occurred on April 15 around 3 p.m. in the 200 block of Park Avenue. The victim, identified as Juliana Murillo, had just purchased flowers for her mother’s birthday when the assailant attacked her from behind outside her apartment building.
According to Murillo, the attacker pushed her forcefully, causing her to hit her head on the door. Despite the impact, she tried to resist, but the man managed to take her purse, which contained her car keys, credit cards, and identification. The suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle, leaving Murillo with injuries and a shattered sense of security.
Neighbors, like Martin Aviles, witnessed the aftermath but were unable to identify the suspect’s vehicle license plate. It was later revealed that the perpetrator attempted to use one of Murillo’s credit cards to access a Paypal account.
This assault comes in the wake of another violent incident in Pasadena, where a woman was sexually assaulted at knifepoint. In that case, the victim fought back and repelled the attacker, who escaped before law enforcement arrived.
Murillo has received support from the community and is speaking out to prevent similar incidents from occurring. She urges women to remain vigilant and unite as a community to protect each other.
The San Fernando Police Department encourages anyone with information about the incident to come forward. Tips can be provided anonymously to the L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline. Murillo’s purse was recovered, but the perpetrator remains at large, prompting a call for community vigilance and cooperation to ensure safety.
